LENTEN LUNCHEONS SERIES

For the past 30 years, First Presbyterian Church has offered a quality Lenten series to the Hutchinson Community. On each Wednesday during Lent, the 46 days prior to Easter, a luncheon is held to help focus our minds on Jesus' journey to the cross and to help us prepare for Good Friday and Easter.

Recognizing that people need to return to work, the entire program is completed by 1 p.m. Each participant is asked to pay the nominal cost of the meal. People from a variety of churches in the area participate, making this an ecumenical venture of faith and fellowship.

Our 2010 series is titled "The Faces of Faith" and runs from February 24 through March 24. Community and faith leaders will share the different ways they live out their faith by
following their passions and working for change.

The 2009 series "Whose Are Our Neighbors?" was a joint venture between FPC and First United Methodist Church, also located in downtown Hutchinson. Five lunch meetings featured impressive guest speakers - ranging from community faith leaders, young professionals, and school counselors, to an author and the mayor of Hutchinson. Each week, we sought to not only identify and understand our neighbors (who they are), but to consider meaningful ways to reach out to the needs of this community (in response to whose they are – God’s).
